How to manage your anxiety in social situations or public places

When you enter in to situations which make you anxious, it is normal to feel overwhelmed. It is also normal to think the worst & constantly overthink every situation. However, what this does, is remove you from the present. It takes you back (or forward in time) to a situation where you play out the scenario in your head. You imagine everything which could happen or could go wrong. This will inevitably leave you feeling panicked, nervous & uptight...making your anxiety worse. To overcome this you can try this very simple 'anxiety grounding' technique. This is aimed at bringing your mind back to the present, what is happening right now, allowing you to realise that this moment isn't as bad as your head thinks. Remember, your thoughts aren't you. They come & go naturally.
